It does respond to aftertouch; I don't know how well - I don't have an aftertouch controller.

The fixed automation version of the Chorg 800DV:

There are still the prefixes and some unused parameters in the list, ignore those, but all knobs, sliders and selectors that you can see, are automatable now. I also added the original manual:

I will do more on request. If no request comes in, I plan to do some of the Chorg and Rolend stuff you made. I start to like your plugins more & more now that I had a view from the inside.

Much younger as you are (I guess at least, 34y here) I never owned any of these machines and because of the high prices nowadays and the costs for repairs and risk of worn out parts it will also not happen. So playing around with the digital reproductions, leaking the original sound but giving you at least some advantages like total recall, I now landed by Tonus 2620. Aware of the existence of the Arp 2600 and the already existing VSTi emulations like the Arturia one and those mentioned here: http://blog.wavosaur.com/2-free-arp-2600...set-banks/ I had to admit that I did not understood the concept of this semi modular completely. If any of you had the same experience, I can recommend this document, look here for "Fundamentals of Music Technology": http://www.samecoff.com/works.html

2 questions came up already:

They speak about dummy cables to interrupt the internal hardwired connections. Is it possible to do that too with Tonus? I couldn't achieve that because the "default" option gives the hardwired ones and there seems to be no "empty" option. Or is it enough to zero the amountslider?

The other thing is the external input. I suppose you can patch your sound into that and raise the gain of your signal before you send it to the multiplier or somewhere else, but is it also possible to input a real external input, like my Doepfer Dark Energy for example?

KT - my remark was not meant as an assumtion that there would be further slogging on your part ; )
Regarding a dummy cable breaking the default connection - I can't for the moment imagine what that would enable you to do that wouldn't be achieved by turning it's associated slider down, but there are some that don't have sliders so maybe, I don't know.  I'm sure David Morely could answer this if there's a way to contact him (I think I've seen him on Gearslutz).  It's certainly do-able on Tonus (in fact that's how it was originally set up).  I don't think it's something one would need to do very often, but I'll see if it's not a huge headache to do.

Didn't even break a sweat -

As to the external input, I don't know how it works within a DAW, but with vstHost, the plugin icon shows up with input (if the plug has them) and output connector dots.  One just mouse-drags a 'cable' between these to connect an out to an in. So you could open a synth that has an external input, and another synth or wave-player, whatever, and connect it's output to the synth to process it with the first synth's filter, etc.

I will come back to you when I will finish the ARP2600 document where they describe that behaviour, till than, I also cannot imagine a reason for that.
But thanx for implementing it so fast. I hope september will never end this year.

I like slogging through your work  Grins but it would be nice if a FSer could point me out how to make the automationparameters as clean as you do in SM. Or what will happen when you do a bugfix or update on for example Chorg PS-20?
You cannot load the .fsm file, so you will have to "slogg" yourself to the automationparameters anyway.

About the ARP, the original Multiplier had 4 jacks, so you could copy 1 signal 3 times, first I thought you left 1 out, but afterwards it is very nice to see, that it even gives more possibilities by leaving the cables out.

One more question about the ARP and my ignorance, what exactly are "envelope times" ? You wrote: " the envelopes can have their times doubled or tripled".

Zitat:As to the external input, I don't know how it works within a DAW, but with vstHost, the plugin icon shows up with input (if the plug has them) and output connector dots.  One just mouse-drags a 'cable' between these to connect an out to an in. Maybe someone here can explain how to do that in Reaper? I can load a sample as an insert on the ARP track, but it has no connection with the ARP's external IN, although you can hear it on the ARP track.

Not sure I understand what you're asking about PS-20.
Regarding 2620 envelope times, there are small black labels near the envelope sliders that say x2, ticking them will light them up and double whatever rate is currently set by the sliders; ticking them again will change them to x3 and rates will be will be tripled.

Likely to be another 6 a.m. finish ... a couple more and I can hopefully get back to working with these things ...

... though I'm clearly not the only one 'burning the candle', as they say. Just checked in for a quick look, and there's a whole shedload of new stuff! - and I don't even have time to download them at the moment, let alone have a play. ... Soon ... soon ...

Just a word to say Thank You - both: how did KT get up to speed that quick!?! Astounding work. (Ah - kids today, eh?)

But also to ask if you would please change the link for the Ecoff book - he asks on his own site that it not be re-distributed. And by respecting his wishes (& IPR), you also get to download the audio examples that accompany the book! It's all here: http://www.samecoff.com/works.html

As for the dummy plugs: the only uses I can think of (that I've actually used - eat your hearts out! [I had a friend long ago who owned one]) are/were: to cut out the internal speakers without plugging headphones in; and to disengage the normalled keyboard input when it was patched into one of the FM inputs for microtonal scaling. Maybe Ecoff can suggest some other uses - I must read it again myself!

Sorry I've not been much help lately - but you're most certainly not forgotten, and I'll jump back in with some serious testing as soon as the pressure eases off a little.

[**EDIT**]
Some hosts (eg Cubase) don't allow audio input into an instrument (VSTi). Not that I want to make any more work for you, but - might be an idea to export the ones with audio-in as both Instrument and FX (with appropriate suffix)?

Someone else mentioned the issue of synths with extenal inputs opening as FX instead of instruments in some hosts and offered a workaround, but would be good to not make folks have to do that.  More proof of the awsomeness of vstHost, I guess; when I save these as vst, SM asks if this is an effect or an instrument, you check appropriate box and save.  When opened in vstHost there's your synth, with external input shown and active.  Why do big, fancy DAWs have such difficulty with this?

That said, certainly not a hassle to save these as both; as I do the automation fixes I'll stuff both into the folders.

The link is changed now.
Great advice for the external in! After exporting the plugin as an FX, it is possible to route audio into the external input and you are still able to play the synth with the keyboard in Reaper.

5 hours down (I 'overslept'!), only another 10-12 to go ...

Quick thought/clarification.

Glad the FX version works in Reaper.
The VSTi version might need the audio-in disconnecting (before export) to work as an Instrument in Cubase.
(And they invented VSTs! - how do they manage to get so much so wrong?)

Automation fix for The Putnie_2s - whew! - over 100 Matrix pins to re-name!

[Bild: 1_19_09_16_10_09_02.jpeg]

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xhpsdiyc878k8...0je4a?dl=0

I suffixed this _2s because it has two envlopes (one mod and one vca) and a stepLFO.

Working right now on a second version that's closer to the original, plus features from the DK keyboard, like an additional oscillator and Velocity.  I wasn't able to completely emulate the Envelope - Off time is missing and On time only works in Repeat mode.  Decay modulation, though works in both modes.

Taking votes on whether the knobs should be changed to the color-coded ones used on the Synthi and later VCS3s, or leave them the all-silver of the early VC3.

Thanks for the image, Bam - I keep forgetting that.

Re-download the file - I just made a slight change to the filter; I'd done a version earlier that cross-fades from 2-pole to 4-pole as cutoff is lowered, to sort of approximate the VCS's shifting-slope characteristic - but I'd forgotten to transfer it over to this new one.

Maybe memory is playing tricks again - I thought the VCS3 / SynthiA Mk 1 had a 3-pole (18dB/oct) filter that fell away to 2-pole (if even that) somewhere below about 100Hz? (Can't put my hand on a manual right away - I'll be quite happy to be shown wrong!)

And if I get a vote - Silver knobs, please!
(I'm gonna be in the minority, though ...)

[attachurl=1]You are correct about the filter, I'll doulble-check it; I think I just described it backwards! I did 2-pole/4-pole because I'd never found an SM 3-pole.

Edit:  Actually, I remebered why I didn't tranfer that 'slope cross-fade' filter over to the latest version: after reading this, I decided that whatever unique sound the VCS/Synthi filter had, probably had little to do with it's slope peculiarities.

The Putnie_os (for Old-School envelope).  Only one Env, like the original; two functions I could figure how to do: the Off time control (delay before re-trigger) and On time when not in repeat mode.  Finally has modulatable Decay though (in both modes).
No step LFO in this one, but added the controls from the DK keyboard, so you get another oscillator, KB CV and velocity CV.  It's not immediately obvious how to use these, so be sure read the note in the box to left of the Kbd Osc freq control.

If you export in FS, the size of the gUI is the size of the zoompercentage atm of export. I did the automationwork on a laptop. That is why it is so big.
Here is a smaller version:
